Dear Friend of Imagine!,

We need you to act immediately!

This will impact you, your family, and your loved ones! Funding for services for individuals with developmental disabilities are at extreme risk of additional, severe cuts in our State.

Imagine! has never before urged a telephone/email writing campaign, but we have, literally, only hours to back Colorado Governor Ritter’s plan and protect services and supports to some of Colorado’s most vulnerable populations—people with disabilities.

Funding for public schools and services for individuals with developmental disabilities will see more cuts without additional income to the state, but “business interests are lining up against Gov. Bill Ritter’s proposals to nix the tax breaks which would generate nearly $132 million in the 2010-2011 budget year that begins in July. The proposals range from eliminating the sales tax exemption for energy used in the manufacturing process to eliminating the sales tax exemption on candy and soda.”*

Please call or email the members of the House Finance Committee (contact info is below) before 12:30 today (Jan. 27) and tell them to support this package of tax exemption bills to protect our State’s most vulnerable citizens.

If you see this email later than 12:30, we still urge you to call them. The bills will be discussed today and tomorrow.
